MarketingSherpa: PPC, SEO and Email Guides are on Hold

MarketingSherpa's print buyers guides for search engine optimization, paid search and email aren't cancelled; they're on hold.

That's the word from Tad Clarke, Editorial Director for MarketingSherpa, an online researcher that focuses its publishing projects on case studies and benchmark marketing data.

Tad said the future is unknown as management weighs options and whether to even make the guides. He said one possibility is to include some type of online version (but even that's not certain).

The guides have been criticized because the data is supplied by the participants, which raises questions about accuracy. As I've mentioned before (and told Tad), the publications are enormously useful for service and approach comparisons and insights about the industries.

Fortunately, the Benchmark Guide seems to be safe. In fact, an annual marketing survey is well underway. I'd encourage you to share your views. It doesn't take long to complete. Here is the survey.
