« 12 Ways to Butcher Your SEO Campaign | Search Is Just One of Many Marketing Concerns »
A few weeks ago, Yahoo mentioned that they would be doing another big update. Over the last couple of weeks I have seen my rankings bounced back and forth from 1st page to nonexistent.
Search Engine Round Table mentioned:
I think (hope) that this newest change reverts back to the original update. What I am seeing today, I saw for a few hours last week. Although the current update is not the greatest, it is much better than what I am seeing today. The top ten for some competitive terms are flooded with suspended free hosting accounts.
Yahoo says this will be a big clean by having fresh data, indexing and crawls.

We've been rolling out some changes to our fresh web data and crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms over the last few days. We expect the update will be completed by the weekend. So, as you know, throughout this process you may see some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages in the index.
The reason I say this, is because when they announced on the 19th they would have it done by the end of the weekend. I still notice ranking appearing and disappearing like the Philadelphia Experiment. This has become very frustrating. Let’s hope the end result has its rewards!

Anyone experiencing the same phenomenon?

I suspect, unfortunately, that they'll continue to do things without notice that will affect future rankings. Having some notice from them helps with clients to explain odd ranking shifts.
I wish that they would just figure it out and have a little consistence.
