What Affiliate Marketing Can Do for Your Business

We all know how big the online world is. This simple fact alone can make it difficult to get your business in the sight of potential customers. What else can you do if your website is already optimized, you’re currently running PPC & email campaigns, and you actively participate on major social media outlets? You get other highly qualified businesses to start promoting your business and products.

What’s affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is basically when a person (the affiliate) promotes a product or service that does not belong to them in the hope that someone will complete an action which leads to the affiliate’s compensation. This action could be anything: filling out a lead form, signing up for a service, or even purchasing a product.

Now you may be asking yourself, “Ok, but why would I want to pay someone with a piece of my profit just to promote my product when I am doing fine promoting it myself?”

Reach
It’s all about “reach.” By having multiple people writing, displaying, sending emails, and talking about your products and/or services, you are “reaching” many new visitors that may otherwise be completely unfamiliar with your business. The affiliates are motivated to drive traffic to your business’s website or landing page because the more traffic that comes in from their sources (websites, emails, posts, etc.), the more potential conversions are made, and the more money those affiliates are able to make. Multiply this factor, and you can imagine how powerful the right affiliate marketing network is and how it could take your business to the next level.

Sales and conversions aren’t the only benefit from affiliate marketing, though. By having more and more websites promoting your business, your brand is now in front of your target market at a much higher rate and for a wider variety of keyword search results. Potential customers will start to become more familiar with your business and/or products, making them more comfortable with the idea of purchasing.

Impact
If done right, affiliate marketing can have a significant impact on a business. With the right relationships, the arrangement is a “win-win” for both parties. That said, it is important to find a qualified, reputable, and helpful affiliate marketing network that is able to get top online marketers interested in what you have to offer.

    Reach is what it’s all about. Affiliates can bring in opportunities you don’t have the time to cultivate.
    Maybe it’s a JV project or just more sales that you can get with your current marketing channels.

    It takes time to manage affiliates ,and usually boils to down to working closely with that small handful who bring the most sales.

    Great overview, Joe. The affiliate space is an interesting one, and certainly one that can be valuable to a business.

    I will add that launching and managing an affiliate program can be quite time-consuming, and it’s important to ensure you’ve got a) someone to watch over it and b) the “right” person to watch over it.
