Peach: A New Social Networking Messaging App

Created by the founder of Vine, Dom Hofmann, Peach is a new social networking application meant to promote an entirely new engagement experience when it comes to messaging apps. TechCrunch reports that the onboarding in Peach is very similar to using Slack commands and Slackbot. The application uses “magic words” as prompt commands—allowing a user, for example, to type “GIF” and then they’re prompted to find and share one. The app is only available on iOS, however its rapidly-growing popularity could likely prompt developers to expand their reach to accommodate additional operating systems.

The White House Launched An “Official Story” On Snapchat

On January 11th, 2016, the White House announced that they launched an “Official Story” on Snapchat to provide a more behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Administration. The press release goes on to explain,

“…our digital strategy centers around meeting people where they are. This decentralized approach, in response to the proliferation of social media, aims to provide the American people with a multitude of ways to engage with their government. Recently, we launched the @POTUS account on Twitter and President Obama’s page on Facebook. Today, we’re excited to announce that this push is continuing, with the debut of the White House’s Official Story on Snapchat.”

The White House plans to use this platform to reach and engage with a larger number of Americans that use the app with behind the scenes, exclusive content that you won’t find anywhere else.

Pinterest Plans To Personalize Every Email They Send In 2016

Pinterest plans to move away from batch campaigns completely in 2016, and personalize every email they send. This effort will support the company’s multi-channel strategy to deliver the most appropriate message, on the right channel, based on the user’s individual behaviors and preferences.

In an exclusive discussion with VentureBeat, Pinterest’s Seth Weisfeld said,

“Email is an extension of the product. Pinterest itself is a very personalized platform, so email needs to be, too.”

A New Update To Twitter’s iOS App Allows Users To View Live & Aired Periscope Broadcasts Directly From The Twitter Timeline

On January 12th, 2015, Twitter announced a new update to their iOS app which will allow users to view live and aired Periscope broadcasts directly from the timeline. Prior to the update, Twitter users could only share Periscope broadcasts as links. As this could open up a larger distribution channel for Periscopers, Quartz warns (however) that unsuspecting users should adjust auto-play settings within the app due to the Periscope streams playing automatically over both mobile data and Wi-Fi.
